  Public Apologies and the WTBS

  what type of public apology do people need to hear to be able to believe it and accept it?.

  the authors of the five languages of apology, gary chapman and jennifer thomas, might have an answer.. when we apologize we hope that the act of sincere apology will eliminate bad consequences and automatically earn forgiveness of other people.

  but the authors discovered that ...sincere apologies may not always be received as sincere and forgiveness and reconciliation are not always forthcoming.

  the 607 year is only important because it gives a starting point to the 2,520 years calculated from neb's dream.

  the "calculation" hinges, among other houses of cards, on the 3 1/2 component, derived from the dan 7:25 and rev 14:14 " ...a time and times and half a time..." now, this adds up to 3 1/2 only if "times" means "2 times".

Now, this adds up to 3 1/2 ONLY if "times" means "2 times". If it means ANYTHING else than 2 times, the calc is off. Mathematically, "times" can mean anything between 2 - ∞.

  My question is, is there ANY reference in the bible quantifying that "times" means "2 times"? If not, coud that be a rather easy refutation to the 2,520 years calc? Could a practical example get through the defence systems of a JW - like a conversation where using "times" proves to be grossly insuficcient to determine how many (important) times something occured?

  Have any of you tried this angle?

  sorry if this starts off as a kind of a downer.. i am 29, and my husband and i have stopped going to meetings since last october.

  we live in mexico and used to attend the english.

  long story short, after realizing how many much we've been lied to we stopped going to our meetings, moved out of the territory, switched to spanish, and after a month of attending just vanished.

  Welcome to the board. I am new, just like you, and in my short few weeks of being part of this community I have really benefited a great deal from reading older posts and active threads.

  Give it some time, it will all make sense and your child one day, knowingly or not, will be infinitely thankfull for your decision.

  Just one more from the June 15th WT on family night and the "Happy God"

  ok just one more about the june 15th wt and then i am done.

  i have finished listing to it and am throwing it out but it helps to know the garbage my husband could be bring home also it helps to know so i can throw out stupid points to him.

  it has really made him think over things.. ok first in par 11 it tells us "godly parents are responsible for instructing their children about jehovah and his ways.

  In addition, the FTS has made ARRANGEMENTS (WTF?) for a family worship evening. See how they follow up with the, what would become in the dub's head, natural extension of Jehovah.

  Really!! If they didn't make the "arrangements", we could by no chance just pick up the bible and study.

  There is no freaking way all this garbage is full off logical fallacies and propaganda just by mere chance. It ain't the monkey just having fun in front of the typewriter. This is a deliberate, well thought out, lawyer and psycologist approved industrial strength brain detergent, DESIGNED to wreak havoc in the subcounscious mind.

  recruiting work, where to work, what to do/not do for entertainment, yadda yadda yadda.

  That's by design. The Emotional control the Borg directs its followers toward is very narrow. It consists of mainly two emotions: fear and guilt. This particular example is a case of inducing feelings of guilt. Nothing reduces self-esteem and builds dependency like guilt.

  Spring Assembly - The Time is Reduced

  i'm back from the spring assembly, theme "the time left is reduced", 1 corinthians 7:29. the presentations were smug in the face of a torrent of world wide tough news stories.

  these should be the glory days for the assemblies.

  however, attendance is down, significantly.
